Ways to improve our immune system

It is (or would be) always very important to take care of our health but these days more important because by boosting up our immune system we are reducing the risk of being infected with the coronavirus, and if being infected, the risk of having severe conditions can be reduced.
One of the most effective way of boosting our immune system is by consuming vitamin C, which is a water soluble vitamin.

The recommended daily amount of vitamin C:
Children (1-3 years)                   15 mg
Children (4-8 years)                   25 mg
Adolescents (9-13 years)           45 mg
Teenagers (14-18 years)            65-75 mg
Women (age 19 and older)        75 mg
Men (age 19 and older)              90 mg
Pregnant women                        85 mg
Breastfeeding women               120 mg

This amount is not enough to fight the virus so we should consume about 1500-2000 mg per day (research has shown that the body can absorb this amount without any problem), higher doses may contribute to formation of kidney stones and can cause diarrhea, nausea and gastritis.

Just one example: one middle size orange contains about 70 mg of vitamin C

Best sources of vitamin C: red, green or yellow pepper, orange, kiwi, pineapple, mango, strawberry, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, tomato, kale, sweet potato and peas

Garlic contains allicin, diallyl trisulfide and ajoene, that can boost virus-fighting T cells in the bloodstream and its high sulfur content makes it very powerful against cold and flu. If garlic is consumed with honey, it is a real superfood and a great way to boost the immune system,

Ginger is an antiseptic and has measurable antiviral benefits. It kills bacteria and cold viruses and the two natural antibiotics in ginger help to reduce inflammation and to overcome fever and cold.

Coconut oil’s two ingredients lauric acid and caprylic acid help to boost the immune system against virals.

Antiviral herbs such as oregano and thyme are great for boosting the immune system.

It is essential to maintain vitamin D3 level because too low level can weaken immunity

Pre and probiotics help to keep the gut healthy because only a healthy gut can make the immune system stronger.

Zinc and selenium rich food (almond, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, cashew and pistachios) can help to boost the immune system.

ake care of yourself and each other
